Cave tours take place in summer, winter, and spring. Most tours can last up to two and a half hours, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes suitable for hiking in Kentucky gardens. Mammoth Cave in Kentucky, in more than 365 miles in length are explored, consistently places the longest. South Dakota cave are some of the most stunning attractions in the state. The caves in South Dakota, especially limestone, and they all (known, at least) are in the Black Hills in the southwestern part of the state. Many of them are sacred to the people native to the Americas region. The Jewel Cave National Monument is located on Mount Rushmore Road just west of Custer State Park and Custer. The first written history of the cave is from 1900, when miners civil claim, entry, and crawlways found and rooms with low ceilings covered with beautiful calcite crystals that shine like a “jewel” in light of their lanterns. There are other caves in South Dakota in the Black Hills. Of all the caves in the United States, does not contain a wide variety of formations found in the Black Hills. They have a job that is more unusual than a box of other caves in the world. Work boxes usually consist of thin blades of calcite that project from walls and ceilings, creating a honeycomb or grid-like formation. Total Eight South Dakota Black Hills caves are open to the public, provide some of the largest concentrations of passageways in the world. Mount Rushmore Cave, featured in the movie National Treasure II, offers a lot of stalactites and stalagmites. Bethlehem Cave, Sitting Bull Crystal Caverns, and Black Hills Caverns is located near Rapid City.
